Saturday was our quarterly group meeting with Mimi Henwood. Super-fun and we made LOTS of super-cute projects. The Halloween Owl Treat-Holder was my special gift to some of my closest friends. The card on the right was my contribution to the projects we all brought to share and make. Each lovely lady brought a “shoe-box” with her finished project idea, and all the supplies for us to each make our own to take home.
I’ll share the other projects soon…My SWAP (the project I designed to share) was a fancy fold card. I used the new Tags 4 You stamp set with Gumball Green Card Stock and the wonderful Halloween Designer Series Paper called Witch’s Brew. The embossing is from the letters in Alphabet Press Embossing Folder.
I know you are wondering HOW did she make that too cute Owl Treat-Holder? Dana received the Strawberry Slush Owl at Convention from Linda Payne. I created the Gumball Green version on the right. Thanks Dana & Linda!
To create the base of the owl fold and emboss a 8 1/2″ by 2 3/4″ piece of card stock. You’ll use stick strip on just the very outer edge to hold it together along the (once folded) 4 1/4″ long sides. The top is left un-taped and you will punch it to create a semi-circle at the top with your 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. (This is where your treat or candy bar will slide in.)
The little Designer Series Paper breast piece is 2″ x 2 3/4″, with the sides punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch to create the shape of the owls wings (negative shape).
To give the eyes that glint of reflection, just draw a few dots and lines with your uni-ball Signo Gel Pen.
I made a little flock of owls to give away. Choose your colors and paper to match your event or holiday. You can add any sentiment you like. I ended up using the Tag 4 You stamp set and coordinating punch to go with my card swap too.
This cute little project was a fun gift and would make super cute treats for anyone come this Halloween! Get crafting, and get your supplies early right here from my stampin store! Have a GREAT Day, Diana.
