So this wall decor might just be my favorite success story from the Carnival DIY Baby Shower craftiness! I mixed store purchased pinwheels with ones I altered by making mini-focal point pinwheel (or some people call the lolies) in our theme colors. The space had this big white wall that was the perfect home for this display.
The real key to the look is the colors. I used lots of pattern, but stuck to the primary color scheme. Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Pool Party and Whisper White. There was a bit of green in the store bought items, the table cloth, the sprinkles on the cup cakes, but you get the idea.
To make each focal point pinwheel I scored paper at 1/2″ intervals and folded concertina style. I used various punches and Big Shot Dies to mix and match the centers and backing for each small pin wheel. I used sticky strip to complete the concertina’s into little loops. Then flattened and held to circle punched layers with Tombow Multi-purpose glue. Tombow is also what I used to attach the little pinwheels I made to the big store bought pinwheels I altered. For the photo wall decor I only made six pinwheels. (Now the diaper cake is a different story…more on that coming later this week.)
Look how fun this wall looks behind the cup cake and diaper cake table…So cute! So useful! So festive! Are you ready to make your own festive wall? I am working on a Halloween pinwheel wall right now! I just have to have a party to go with it. Here are some fun pictures of folks in front of the pinwheel wall here too.
I hope you have a wonderful day! If you need any supplies for your own DIY party decor you can get all the coordinating colors right here, now! Diana
