Do you ever need to "dress-up" your baking for a special party or hostess gift? Or want too, but feel like you don't have the time? This weekend I had two events I was attending where I needed something special, baked and "creatively" decorated. Here is what I came up with…fast!
The event at church was the annual fundraiser for the youth group, called Destination Dinner & Dessert Action. The theme was Hawaiian Luau. So I went with the theme and the request to bring donations of "creative desserts"! Did someone ask for "creative" and "dessert" in the same sentence! I am SO on that! I LOVE to bake and even better baking for a cause and I get to be "creative".
I created a tag (that started out simple…) with my Big Shot and the Fun Flowers Bigz L and Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Dies. I used the Hearts A Flutter solid heart stamp with Whisper White Craft Ink and over stamped it with the outline heart in Rose Red Classic Ink. My white uni-ball Signo Gel Pen added a nice detail on each petal and around the scallop edges.
The tiny hand crafted tags are from the Jewelry Tag Punch and the stamp set Tiny Tags with a touch of Baker's Twine. A plain white coffee filter and Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon are the basics of the wrapper.
The leaves are another flower from the Fun Flower Die that I embossed with the Spider Web Folder and sponged with Lucky Limeade Classic Ink.
The second event was Stamping with Friends…and the theme was "Sunday Brunch". I really can't tell you how excited I get by any theme! I can go a little over-board with ideas, and it is SO nice and fun to have some parameters to work with. So, I'll show you the Sunday Brunch creation tomorrow…if you can stand the suspense, he he.
I made this recipe my own as follows…used Lemon Supreme Cake Mix, Coconut Cream Pudding, and Sliced Almonds instead of what the recipe calls for. It's what I had in the cabinet. And I ALWAYS use real Butter instead of oil.
