Are you done with the "love" day? I saw someone call it "Valloween"! Ahhhh! I love the idea of Halloween and Valentine's day all mashed up…but I think they where making it more of a "singles statement"…so forget the love (sorry if it was too much), on with the GREEN!
I made my "Love Banner" all over in Green, squeel!
It was so much fun to C.A.S.E.(Copy And Share Everything) the love banner in Green and Shamrocks. Makes me think of my grandma and my heritage (her maiden name was Hargis) and my friend Leah who makes St. Patrick's Day cards every year! I think Leah would approve.
All the Chalkboard Technique on black…seems like we needed some on green! So this Wild Wasabi and Gumball Green banner seemed like the perfect place to try it. I used the Storytime Designer Series Paper for the Banner flags and other embellishments. I really like how it came out. What do you think? Does it get you in the mood to be "Irish-for-a-day"?
Everyone is "Irish" for a day, at least in Kansas City. St. Patrick's Day is kind of a big deal in this town. The history of the celebrations goes back to the 19th Century in KC with it's Irish population. This year will mark the 41st year of the Kansas City Parade and that is just one of the MANY events in town.
My favorite is the Brookside Neighborhood Parade. In it's 33rd year, it is just and old fashion local parade with civic groups, dance clubs, small businesses…very cool like when I was a kid and remember walking in the Raytown Round-Up Parade…with white gloves as a Blue Bird (Camp Fire Girl). I am a south of the river girl.
But then you also have the other warm-up Parade in KC. Snake Saturday Parade and Festival in the Northland of KC. The event is a fundraiser for local charities. It's another long-time traditions and family friendly.
My own little historic neighborhood has a parade too…Downtown Lee's Summit (a suburb of KC) has the 8th Annual Emerald Isle Parade…and I am sure there are a ton of other events in KC. ALL the pubs (Irish and not have Green Beer specials and parties, maybe not so family friendly, but a great "green" good time.)
So I am off to digout my other green decorations and cute up my door and covered poarch…only 29 days left till March 17th! Have a GREAT Saturday, Diana
